Bangphli Residence

Project: Bangphli Residence
Location: Samut Prakarn , Thailand.

This project is a complete redesign since the building structure was provided by the owner, while the rest is our responsibility. This includes designing the electrical system, air conditioning system, plumbing, and others, as well as determining the layout and size of the various rooms.

The project area is approximately 160 square meters and includes 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, and 1 laundry room. After discussions with the owner, it was concluded that the style for this project would be New England Colonial. The New England Colonial interior design style is notable for its historical significance and characteristics that reflect the early days of British settlement in America. It is a simple yet luxurious style that blends warmth and the strength of traditional American colonial design.

  1. Materials Used
    • Wood is the primary material, especially oak and pine, which provide a warm, natural beauty.
    • In some homes, stone is used for chimneys or foundations, showcasing strength and durability.
  2. Color Usage
    • Colors used in this style often reflect nature, such as white, cream, navy blue, green, and natural wood tones.
    • Light colors are used on walls and ceilings to create a bright and warm atmosphere, while darker colors are often used in furniture or decorations to create a focal point.
  3. Furniture
    • Furniture is generally traditional and simple, primarily made of solid wood, such as tables, chairs, and cabinets, with minimal carvings for added elegance without excess.
  4. Fabrics and Decorations
    • Simple fabrics like linen and cotton are used. Curtains or upholstery often feature plain patterns or subtle checks and florals.
    • Local rugs or handwoven carpets add warmth and interest to the room.
  5. Structural Design
    • Several small windows with wooden frames and simple curtains, or interior shutters that can be opened and closed.
    • A large chimney, either in the center of the house or at the side, to provide warmth.
  6. Lighting Design
    • The use of natural light is crucial. Large windows are used to let in as much sunlight as possible.
